Premium Face & Neck Laser Hair Removal — Precision for Delicate Areas

Upper lip, chin, cheeks, sideburns, jawline, and full neck. Our Premium Face & Neck Laser Hair Removal uses a specialized small-spot diode laser attachment on the Candela GentleMax Pro, designed specifically for delicate facial skin. Unlike body lasers, facial treatment requires lower fluence, smaller spot size, and precise control to avoid hyperpigmentation. Our certified specialists adjust parameters for each facial zone — upper lip requires different settings than the neck or jawline.

Facial Laser Requires Different Parameters

Facial skin is thinner, has more nerve endings, and higher melanin concentration than body skin. Using body laser settings on the face can cause burns or hyperpigmentation. Our Candela GentleMax Pro uses a 6mm or 10mm spot size (vs 18mm for body) with lower fluence (6-12 J/cm² vs 12-20 J/cm² for body). This precision allows us to treat individual hairs on the upper lip without affecting surrounding skin.

✅ For Upper Lip: Small spot size (6mm), fluence 6-8 J/cm², 2-3 passes. Cooling is essential. Avoid treatment 2 weeks before menstruation if hormonal sensitivity is high.
✅ For Chin (PCOS/Hormonal): Smaller spot size, higher number of sessions (8-12) due to androgen stimulation. Maintenance sessions every 3-4 months may be needed.
✅ For Neck: Skin on neck is thinner and more prone to redness. We use lower fluence and additional cooling passes. Avoid shaving neck 24 hours prior.

Your Facial Laser Journey

📅 Step 1: Free Consultation & Patch Test
Patch test on inner forearm AND behind ear (to check facial skin reaction). Review medical history — Accutane use requires 6 months wait. Cold sore history? We prescribe prophylactic antiviral medication.
🧴 Step 2: Pre-Treatment Prep
Shave facial hair 24 hours before (use clean razor, no shaving cream with fragrance). Stop retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene) 5-7 days prior. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanners for 2 weeks.
⚡ Step 3: Treatment Day (10-15 minutes)
Titanium eye shields (internal) or metal external shields for protection. Specialist treats zones in order: upper lip (most sensitive), chin, cheeks, sideburns, neck. Cooling gel applied. Each pulse feels like a tiny rubber band snap.
🌿 Step 4: Post-Care
Apply provided soothing cream (cicaplast or aloe). No makeup for 24 hours. No sun exposure for 48 hours — use SPF 50+ mineral sunscreen. No exfoliation for 5 days.
🔄 Step 5: Follow-Up Sessions
Facial hair: 6-8 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. PCOS/chins: 8-12 sessions, maintenance every 3-4 months.

For PCOS & Hormonal Hair Growth

Women with PCOS often develop coarse, dark hair on the chin, upper lip, cheeks, and neck. This hair is androgen-driven and more resistant to laser than non-hormonal hair. Our protocol:

  • More sessions: 8-12 initial sessions (vs 6-8 for non-hormonal)
  • Maintenance required: Every 3-4 months, not annually
  • Combination approach: We coordinate with your endocrinologist if you’re on spironolactone or metformin
  • Shorter intervals: Every 3-4 weeks, not 4-6 weeks

Results are still excellent — 80-85% reduction possible — but expectations must be realistic about maintenance.

Facial Laser Contraindications

Do NOT treat if: Active cold sore (herpes simplex) within 7 days • Recent Accutane (6 months wait) • Active acne cysts in treatment area • Tanned skin (wait for tan to fade) • Pregnancy (hormonal changes cause unpredictable results) • Metal implants in jaw/teeth — we use eye shields, not magnetic.

For upper lip: Wait 2 weeks after dental numbing injections. For neck: Avoid if you have thyroid nodules without medical clearance.

Frequently Asked Questions — Face & Neck Laser

❓ Can laser cause more facial hair growth (paradoxical hypertrichosis)?
Rare (under 1%). Risk is higher in women with PCOS or those treating fine vellus hair on cheeks. We test a small area first.
❓ Will it work on blonde or gray facial hair?
No. Laser targets melanin. White/gray/blonde hairs have insufficient pigment. Electrolysis is the alternative for those hairs.
❓ How do I prevent cold sores after treatment?
If you have history of cold sores, we prescribe antiviral medication (Valacyclovir) taken 1 day before and 2 days after treatment.
❓ Can I wear makeup after?
Wait 24 hours. Use mineral-based makeup only. No chemical exfoliants or retinoids for 5-7 days.
❓ Why does chin hair seem to come back faster?
Hormonal (androgen-driven) hair has shorter resting cycles. PCOS patients need more frequent maintenance — every 3-4 months vs annually.
